Mind the GAAP Storms the Beach
Jul 21, 2017
Every Tuesday, around 5 o’clock, the Milwaukee office begins to shut down. After a productive day in the office, the troops gather and head towards Bradford Beach to play some volleyball. The first time I went I was absolutely amazed at the number of people who come out to play. Hundreds of people line the beach and play games on one of the thirty plus courts available. The atmosphere at the beach is absolutely incredible. There are people of all ages and all walks of life coming together for some fun in the sun after work.
Mind the GAAP was very consistent in the six weeks we’ve gone down there and played; the first game everyone always comes out a little flat. Who knows, maybe we were still thinking about the job we were working on today, or the tasks we need to finish tomorrow. However, by games two, three, and four we really started to find our stride. Opposing teams soon realize that these accountants aren’t just a bunch of pencil pushers.
Overall, volleyball has been a great bonding experience for the office. Interns get the chance to talk with other interns, and catch up with staff that we aren’t working with. This is the second summer that the office has done the volleyball league, and I hope that Mind the GAAP will continue to bring their talents to Bradford for years to come.
