As an important part of an employee's total compensation package, we offer the comprehensive benefits you expect—and a few you may not.
Our traditional benefits package includes:
Paid Time Off (PTO)
401(k) with employer match
Medical and prescription
Long-term and short-term disability
But it’s the non-traditional perks, such as extensive training and promoting a work/life balance, that we believe make all the difference in providing you with a great work experience. A few other perks include:
Bonuses and Incentives
In addition to your annual review, each employee is eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus each year. We also compensate employees for bringing new business to the firm, allowing you to share in a portion of client fees collected each month—for as long as the client remains active. The firm also pays a discretionary bonus to employees for referrals that result in the hiring of a new employee.
Professional Development & Other Subsidies
Upon approval by the department head, the firm offers tuition reimbursement for Masters of Taxation programs, as well as for industry and technical conferences and webinars. We also realize while working downtown is fun, it can be more costly than suburb life. So, we subsidize our employees’ parking fees to minimize the cost of parking or public transportation.
Entertainment & Firm Social Events
Our employees work hard, but fun is also an important part of the equation at Cohen & Company. Our people have access to a variety of tickets to sporting and theatrical events in all of our locations. Additionally, firm sponsored social events are a staple. We host events such as family picnics, golf outings and happy hours to show our appreciation to all of our employees.
We are extremely proud of our wellness program. A few activities we offer to promote healthy living include an annual health day, behavior change programs (e.g., 10k-a-Day and Biggest Loser competitions) and annual flu shots given right in the office. In addition, the firm offers ways to qualify for monthly health plan premium discounts.
We strongly believe in supporting our communities. One of our flagship contributions is our role as a leader in the United Way campaign each year. We devote an entire week to hosting fundraising activities in the office, including an auction for which partners donate high-value items and their time. (We even had one partner offer to cut firewood from his home and personally deliver it to the winner’s house!) We also get out from behind our desks to volunteer with the United Way in its annual Day of Caring. Whether it’s serving as a board member, helping plant flowers in a community, or sponsoring a charitable event, our employees get personally involved. And the firm supports our efforts by paying for employees’ time away from the office.
