Going into my first day of fieldwork I had mixed feelings of excitement and anxiety. This being my first public accounting experience I was not exactly sure what to expect. Most of my team had interned with the firm themselves and knew exactly how I felt. They frequently checked in on me to make sure I was doing ok. When I did have questions they were quick to offer guidance and happy to help. After our fieldwork was done I realized how lucky I was to have such a helpful and understanding team on my first client.
Now nearing the end of my internship, I realized that my first team was not the exception but the norm. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to work with different teams on different clients. I was able to meet a lot of people, staff through partner, from multiple offices. Every team had the same attitude as my first. They invested their time to make sure the interns had the help they needed to get the most out of their experience. Because of the great culture at Cohen & Company, I was able to learn more than I ever expected to. The whole firm truly cares that not just interns but everyone is continuing to learn and have the best experience possible. I hope to continue to build on the skills and knowledge I have gained from this internship as I continue my career. I am grateful to Cohen & Company from providing me with such a great first experience in public accounting.
