My Marketing Internship Experience at an Accounting Firm

At first it was overwhelming to be one of the few marketing interns in a room full of accountants during my first few training sessions at Cohen & Company. However, I felt like I belonged despite being in a very different field than the rest of the interns. I knew I was in the right place when interns started to reach out to me, were supportive and wanted to learn more about what I was doing in marketing.
After the first week, I felt more comfortable in the workplace. The positive atmosphere and the guidance from Cohen & Company’s great marketing team helped me stay on the right track and allowed me to learn a lot. It’s a challenge to comprehend some of the technical content when writing for an accounting firm and not majoring in accounting. However, this challenge has given me a new skill set. It has also taught me to not be afraid to ask questions. The culture at Cohen & Company is one that allows for growth because employees are kind but at the same time have a drive to work hard and a strong sense of integrity.
Through this internship so far, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a lot of different marketing projects. I have been able to focus on marketing projects in data analytics while being creative by working on content for Cohen & Company’s newsletters and email’s. I like that I have a balance in the different work assignments I am given. I am so happy that Cohen & Company is my first marketing internship because I feel that I am learning a lot about the many different paths I could take in this field. I can’t wait to continue to work for this great company for the rest of the summer.
Sometimes looking for internships in unlikely places and trying something that pushes you out of your comfort zone can be a great idea. You never know what you will find and how much you will learn.
