You Learn Something New Everyday

They say, “You learn something new every day.” I am here to tell you that this is spot on. Every day at Cohen & Company, I was learning something new about how to use the software, a new tax law or tricks and tips in excel. I found the best way to retain all the new information and keep yourself on pace is to keep a notepad with you every step of the way. From the first day of my internship, I was always taking notes whether on a note pad, sticky notes, or a piece of paper. The notes that you take as an intern serve as great reference points whether you need them day to day or to reference something that you learned from the beginning of your internship. Another great thing that notes help with is avoid asking the same question twice.
My advice to future interns would be to absorb as much information as possible throughout your time at Cohen & Company. Bring a notepad everywhere you go and especially to every meeting because you never know when you will strike up an important conversation. Listen to tips and tricks other co-workers give you because they can save you a ton of time. Last, be on time for everything!
